NRS Healthcare Bed Rail Measuring Guide
The NRS Bed Rail Measuring Guide is a useful tool made from durable plastic, designed for checking that your bed side rails and bed grab rails are safely installed. Helpful for customers and clinical prescribers alike, this tool is in accordance with the latest guidelines from the MHRA (Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency).
This guide tool has two sides:
Bed side rails
The front of the guide can be used to check the installation of side rails on adult beds. It shows how to check gaps and clearances - this includes the minimum height of the side rails, and safe gaps between the bed, mattress, and side rails.
Bed grab rails
The rear side of the guide can be used to check the installation of grab rails (otherwise known as grab handles or bed levers) on adult beds. This includes safe gaps between the bed and grab handle, and between the grab handle and adjacent furniture.
More than just a physical guide
The NRS Bed Rail Measuring Guide includes a QR code that links to a helpful NRS Healthcare web page which links to a training video and guidance documents.
The video shows you how to use the measuring guide with bed side rails and bed grab rails fitted to a bed. The guidance documents include advice on conducting risk assessments on bed side rails and bed grab handles, and also features a flow chart to help prescribers choose a suitable product.
