Every so often, we receive an email that reminds us exactly why we do what we do. This one came from Sebastian, one of our customers. We wanted to share it with you, word for word, because nobody tells this story better than he does.
My name is Sebastian, and I live with a progressive neurological condition called cerebellar ataxia, together with severe peripheral neuropathy. Every day is a challenge. Walking is difficult, my balance is poor, and many simple tasks that most people never have to think about have become part of my daily struggle.
When illness changed my life, I also had to change the way I lived. I had to accept that I would need support and equipment to help me remain independent. That wasn’t easy.
The products I have received have meant much more than just practical equipment. They have given me confidence, safety and the ability to continue doing everyday things for myself. To someone living with a disability, that means everything.
Although my illness has taken many things from me, I have learned to appreciate the little moments. Spending time in my garden, baking fresh bread, smoking homemade food, and caring for my home help me forget my illness, even if only for a while. Being able to do these things safely is something I never take for granted.
I know my condition will not improve, but every little bit of independence is a gift. Every day that I can continue living life on my own terms is a victory.
So I simply wanted to say thank you.
Thank you for helping people like me live with more dignity, more confidence and more hope.
Being able to maintain your independence and live life the way you want to is not to be underestimated.
