High performance mobility scooter battery chargers

At Complete Care Shop, we have an extensive range of high-quality mobility scooters. These electric motor mobility aids must be powered accordingly, though, which is why we offer a superb selection of chargers and batteries. Our mobility scooter chargers range in power but are suitable for charging 20Ah to 50Ah batteries, ensuring peak performance and years of reliable service.

Easy-to-use batteries and chargers

Many of our travel mobility scooters have long-distance ranges in one single battery charge, but it’s always handy to have a backup just in case. Fortunately, our batteries and chargers can be stored on the scooter while you’re out and about. This means that you won’t be left stranded a couple of miles from home should your battery run out. Simply swap them with ease while on your travels and you can get moving again.

Reliable battery chargers for mobility scooters

Leaving high-power batteries on charge for long periods of time, like overnight, can potentially damage the battery and may also be quite dangerous. However, our chargers feature built-in cooling fans while the batteries contain a low pressure venting system, helping to regulate temperature while on charge. However, it must be noted that you should always avoid overcharging your battery. Once fully charged, unplug the battery from the charger.

How do I properly charge my mobility scooter battery?

Properly charging your mobility scooter battery is essential for maximising its lifespan and maintaining performance. Follow these steps:

  • Use the correct charger: Always use the charger provided by the manufacturer or a compatible charger recommended for your specific scooter model.
  • Fully charge: Plug in the charger to both the scooter and an electrical outlet. Charge the battery fully after each use, even if the scooter was used for a short duration. Avoid interrupting the charging process prematurely.
  • Avoid overcharging: Most modern chargers are designed to stop charging once the battery is full. However, it's a good practice to disconnect the charger after the recommended charging time to prevent overcharging.
  • Charge in a suitable location: Charge the scooter in a well-ventilated and dry area, away from direct sunlight or extreme temperatures. Avoid charging in humid or wet environments.
  • Regular charging: If you don't use the scooter for an extended period, charge the battery every few weeks to prevent deep discharge, which can damage the battery.

How often should I replace my mobility scooter battery?

Mobility scooter batteries have a limited lifespan, typically ranging from one to two years, depending on usage and maintenance. Signs that you may need to replace the battery include:

  • Reduced Range: If you notice that your scooter's range has significantly decreased, even after a full charge, it's a sign that the battery's capacity has diminished.
  • Longer Charging Time: If the battery takes much longer to charge than it used to, it might indicate that it's losing its ability to hold a charge effectively.
  • Frequent Recharging: If you find yourself needing to recharge the battery more often than before, it suggests that the battery is no longer holding its charge as well as it should.
  • Physical Damage: Any visible damage to the battery casing or terminals should be taken seriously and might warrant replacement.
  • Age: As a general rule of thumb, if your battery is older than 2 years and you notice any of the above issues, it's a good idea to consider replacing it.

Can I use different types of battery with my mobility scooter?

It's important to use the type of battery recommended by the scooter manufacturer. Different mobility scooters use various types of batteries, including lead-acid batteries and lithium-ion batteries. Using an incompatible battery type could lead to damage, reduced performance, or safety hazards. If you're considering switching to a different battery type, consult the manufacturer or a qualified technician to ensure compatibility and safety.
