As seen on TV!
The Walk Safe® Walking Frame has recently been featured on a popular shopping channel, demonstrated by one of our expert Occupational Therapist team.
The lightweight NRS Walk Safe® is a revolutionary indoor walking frame with a brand-new design that’s proven¹ to be twice as stable when turning, compared to the traditional walking frame.
Created in partnership with the University of Salford and backed by four years of academic research and development, the Walk Safe® is a game-changer, truly breaking free of the walking frame mould which has barely changed in 70 years.
Great features:
- Available in two sizes – each height and width adjustable
- Swivel castors with Magnetic Directional Bias*
- Large 125mm wheels
- Cushioned upper handles
- Additional lower handles
- Fully welded, lightweight frame
- Combined rear brake and glide
- Heavy duty max. user weight of 230kg (36 stone)
- Compatible with the Buckingham Caddy
- 2-year guarantee
This is the medium size Walk Safe® walking frame.
Innovative design
Easy and safe turningThe incredible new castor design on the Walk Safe® lets you turn as you walk, without having to lift the whole frame up. You get smoother, more stable turns and a more natural walking movement.
With Magnetic Directional Bias, the wheels return to a forward-facing position once you’ve made your turn, giving you much more control when you travel in a straight line.
Combined rear pressure brake and glideA combined glide and brake on the rear legs gives you a smooth motion and controlled stopping all in one handy feature.
The glide travels smoothly over your home’s surfaces and thresholds, rather than the jerky movement of a traditional rear ferrule. However, if you apply pressure to the frame, the rear brake contacts the floor to bring you to a safe stop.
Safely supporting you
Built-in lower handlesThis newest zimmer frame on the market also has two lower handles, cleverly designed to give you extra support when you stand up from your chair, sofa, or bed – as well as when you sit back down again. They're particularly useful if your chair doesn't have armrests, or if you're getting up from a bed or sofa.
Positioned so that the Walk Safe® won’t tip when you use them correctly to stand or sit, these lower handles are at a much easier height to aid you from a sitting position.
Fully welded frameUnlike traditional walking frames, the Walk Safe® has a welded frame making it more durable. Strong alloy tubing supports those weighing up to 160kg, and this fully recyclable construction is also more suitable for re-use or longer-term use, rather than the shorter lifespan of traditional frames.
Adjustable to suit youMany standard walking frames can be height adjustable, but the Walk Safe® is both height and width adjustable. The two sizes of Walk Safe® cover a huge range of body sizes, so you only need to select one of two options.
Be sure to measure the height you need correctly: when standing with your hands by your side, the hand grips should reach just above the wrist joint (see ‘Overall height’ in item specifications). Please note that the overall width depends on the height adjustment. As the height increases, a larger footprint is required. Speak to a healthcare professional for guidance.
Comfort and convenience
Cushioned upper handlesStable and supportive, the Walk Safe® doesn’t compromise on comfort. The handles have a grip section built-in that helps to avoid slipping during use.
Buckingham Caddy compatibleThe Walk Safe® is also compatible with the Buckingham Caddy, meaning you can carry personal items with you as you go around your home. Keeping the items stable as you walk, this handy accessory gives you confidence to carry out your day-to-day tasks.
Disassemble for storage or travelThe frame can come apart into two pieces, making it flatter and more convenient to store. It also makes the Walk Safe® easier to take in the car when travelling.
