A cleverly designed castellated foam insert has many cells that move independently for the highest degree of comfort, whilst the channels at the base of each cell allow for air circulation minimising the build up of heat and moisture. The outer cover is a multi stretch, waterproof, polyurethane fabric with welded seams and a full length flap concealing the zip. Combined, these features help to reduce the risk of fluid ingress and therefore prolong the life of the mattress. The Invacare Softform Mattress does not require turning significantly minimising manual handling issues for the carer.
When assessing an individual for a pressure reducing mattress, it is advisable to carry out a risk assessment. The Waterlow scale for example provides a guide category of potential risk for that individual, based on the final score. The Invacare Softform Elite Pressure Mattress has a Waterlow Score of 20+ making it suitable for users who are at Very High Risk of developing pressure ulcers.
